Go.Love :: Guatemela

This year, I felt the Lord Reminding me to live in LOVE --- loving Him.... loving others. Especially those that cannot do anything for me! He put going on a missions trip in my heart and after my husband and kids gave me their full support I decided I would pursue it.

Colombia was in my heart because its my parent's country, and it would be with my home church campus : Plantation. I have to admit even with all the familiarity, I dealt with fear of the unknown and let procrastination get in the way of even completing my application.

However my plans are not HIS plans. When I dealt with regret and sadness, He was making a way. There was an overwhelming response for the Colombia trip and it was suggested I take a look at the Guatemala Trip. An unknown place with unfamiliar people. I prayed and felt this is where I belong. Moving out in obedience and faith to wherever He leads .

In Guatemela, we will do children ministry outreaches, like VBS. We will help serve in a growing ministry there called “Celebrate Recovery”, which is a Christ-centered, 12 step recovery program for anyone struggling with hurt, pain, or addiction of any kind. It is a group that comes together to find community and freedom from the issues that are controlling their lives. Also, there will be time for street evangelism and other various outreaches to the surrounding communities and through the church.

I am excited to see what God will do and look forward ro serving in Love.

Anyway you feel led to support me or this trip, I would really appreciate it whether with prayers, encouragement or financially! God bless and thank you!

Nothing Else.

My favorite worship song right now is by Cody Carnes : Nothing Else. The lyrics as simple as can be: "I just want you. Nothing Else, nothing Else will do, I just want you." And as I sang this song a few Saturday nights ago at service, with my eyes closed and hands lifted in worship, I breathed in, and came to the realization of how more than just a song its a truth and a prayer I must live out everyday of my life. We just moved a week ago, and until then we were living in a clutter of boxes. and I realized how much I hate clutter. I know it was necessary, but it was making my mind cluttered as well and I just felt messy and like I couldn't wait to be in the new place, unpacked, and organized. I figured this would bring back the peace a normal routine and clean house brings me. It was just this week, I was listening to a preaching. A preaching that talked about the importance of walking in obedience especially when it comes to our finances. Dr. Mark Jobe on Mood...

Like ME!

How many likes will this get? Living in the social media age we live in, its often a question we ask before posting anything. A thought, our lunch, a new outfit, or an accomplishment in school or our career. Last week in school, my son was nominated to run for president of his kindergarten class as they learned about president's day. When he came home he told me he wasn't sure if they liked him and would vote for him. Of course, with me, that sparked a life conversation with him. "Not everyone is going to like you Manny, and that's ok!". I could even hear my moms voice in my head (in Spanish of course) telling me the very same thing growing up. I had to reassure him that all he could do was keep being the Emmanuel he is. With all his knowledge, likes, dislikes, habits, and mannerisms that are individual to him; he has to know he doesn't need anybody's approval to be just that. (except his parent's right now, but authority is another topic). I...

16 and Married!

       As most of you may already know, I wasn't 16 and pregnant, like the popular MTV show. Instead I was 16 and married. Yes married before I graduated, or officially got my driving license. Married before I got an actual job and before I knew what marriage was really going to require.     I met my husband my freshman year in high school and for many months only looked at him as a friend to share my "boy" drama with. But after many lunches, conversations, hanging out, inviting him to my church, dancing at my quince, and skipping many electives together, I was in love with my homeboy, my friend. And all of a sudden, all the guys that I was entertaining as potential suitors didn't matter anymore. Not after Emerald called my house on a Tuesday night while I was watching American Idol, to confess his love for me. I remember seeing his family name on the caller I.D and almost falling off my bed to get the phone to tell him my sister wasn't ho...
