Charlie Brown and the most amazing lesson!

This past weekend, we decided to take the kids to watch Peanuts. I grew up reading Charlie Brown comics in the Sunday paper and loved all the TV Holiday specials so much. I thought it would be a great day for our kids to gain appreciation for these old classic characters. And Emeli thinks Snoopy is just the cutest dog ever, so they were just as thrilled. We, as parents, are very selective with what movies we support at the box office and what  we allow our kids to watch, but with a "G" rating and good reviews it sounded like something that would really just be innocent fun cartoons. We didn't know what to expect as far as the story line, but as someone who lives in a cartoon world in my own head, I was pleasantly surprised there were no villains. Besides a red airplane that Snoopy daydreams and writes about. The main story line was Charlie Brown's "inadequacy". He always felt he was just ackward, with no real talent, or anything to make him stand ou...

Weekend To Remember

A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to win through the radio, registration for a marriage retreat about 1 hour away from us. It was being held at the Marriot in Delray Beach. This was the perfect getaway for my husband and  I to spend time with each other and learn more about marriage. Marriage after all is one of the most important missions we have as we create and raise our family. I was so ecstatic when I received the call, that we had won! Though that isn't possible just yet , the conference did end with us renewing our vows! It was an amazing experience to be able to have this romantic getaway, but also to see over 300 couples from 23 states gathered to improve their marriage. Some couples ...

When things don't go as planned...

Last Thursday I was so excited for the upcoming long weekend. We had plans to go to the movies Friday night, a nice relaxing day Saturday, celebrating my dad's birthday Sunday and maybe enjoying some fun in the sun on Monday. However, I should have known by Friday morning when I got the call Manny was napping that most likely none of my plans were going to take place. Manny, our 6 year old. Never naps. And rarely ever does he say he does not feel good. Hence the reason for concern. He said he wasn't feeling too well before crashing on grandma's bed. However knowing how strong his immune system and him are, I still envisioned a nice long weekend full of fun and things to do. When I picked the kids up from my moms house, he once again fell asleep. Making this his 2nd nap of the day. In my mind, something wasn't quite right. He can't go from never napping to napping twice in a row! So our movie plans were canceled and instead we stayed home to take care of our bab...
