Mi amor,
10 years ago today we got ready in our black and white attire and headed to court with our dads.... to get married! I remember walking together in that court room, bashful, nervous, and without really comprehending the commitment we were making. I remember thinking if we could make it for the next ten years, we could make it for life. I knew then the road would be hard, unknown, doubtful, and full of obstacles, but I didn't know then it was possible to love you more now.
I loved you then. I was crazy head over heels, no logical thinking-in love with you. You made me smile, laugh, study, work, not wear make up, laugh at everything, not worry about what anybody had to say. We grew up together...from school, studying, skipping, graduating, learning how to drive, getting jobs, and becoming adults. We had plans, we made mistakes, we overcame, we set goals, we made two beautiful Em & Ems and have grown closer together than I could imagine.
Today I thank you for standing by my side through thick and thin, through poor and richer, through sickness and health, for having and holding me. For being my best friend who understands me without saying a word, who encourages me to look at things differently, for praying for me, for pushing me, for giving me pep talks and yet always telling me the truth in love. Thanks for loving me when I'm difficult, loud, unreasonable and helping me move away from self centeredness and selfishness. Thanks because even though everyone said we would grow apart, we grew together. You have helped me mold me and shape me into the woman and mother I am today.
You, to me grow more handsome everyday. I remember meeting you at 16 and liking your style, your jokes, your baggy clothes, your braids, your fitted hats, and even your glasses. Today you are more handsome to me...I look at you and I see the hottest man in the universe. You no longer have the baggy clothes, the braids, the hats or even the glasses, but you have grown into one fine man. I love your leadership, your ability to make decisions, to provide, to help. I love the way you are a hands on father. I love seeing you play basketball with Manny, and even doing Emeli's hair or dressing her princesses. I love the way you give 100% of you to your commitments, whether work, friends, or serving. I love that you're a man of your word and you have helped me learn that too. I love the way you just give all of you whether it was running out to get me a craving , or changing a diaper in the middle of the night. I love the way you do laundry just because you can, or the way you wash dishes after I cook. I love that you can handle anything and still do it all so delicately and with love. I love that you truly are a one of a kind kinda man and you're all mine.
for making my life more beautiful each day and making me love waking next to you every morning....thank you. For being my shoulder to cry on, the one to make laugh, the one who gets all my jokes and my spanglish, the one who knows me truly, honestly, and more than anyone else...yet still choosing me. For loving me and putting me first. For doing the little things and the big things that let me know you love me.... For the things we are working on, for the things to come. Because I know today as we head into double digits, that we can conquer anything that comes our way!!! I love our life, and I cherish every moment we make raising our kids, building our home and moving forward. and like one of our favorite songs say::: " I can't wait to date you when you're 60, and your hair is gray".....
I know I made this video a couple of months back when it was our 10th anniversary together, but its always great to look back and get excited about where we are headed! Happy 10th wedding anniversary my love......
a look back......
