Another throwback thursday testimony......

Today is the end of a season for our family. For the past 4 years my husband has had a second job to help cover expenses and to continue to provide for our family. Today I can happily say its his last day!

He took on this job 4 years ago.. (when this picture was taken and we were expecting Emeli) and it has been a great blessing and income for our family as we prepared for the new addition, to buy a home and just tackle all the expenses that come as homeowners and parents.

We haven't gotten rich yet and we can still plan for those unexpected expenses but its no longer a necessity. Our focus as a family has shifted into having more time for one another, investing in the kids real family time, in friendships, and in continuing to serve in the Kids ministry at our church. We have realized there are things far more important than making money and time is something it can't buy.

I have to say it scares me a bit to let go of the extra income, but I know I will love my husband home with us at bedtime and not as tired more than anything.

Its huge for me to look back and know that God has always met every single one of our needs even when we thought there was no way. I know its also a reminder that as He has provided before, He will continue to provide.

We are thankful for the opportunity he had there, the people he met and even all the times he was able to see family and friends park at events at the BB&T center.

I am excited to have God and our husband lead us into this new season of more family, more God, more connections, and more serving! I love throwback Thursdays and even more importantly I love how God fulfills all the desires of our hearts.

I encourage you to look back at your throwback pics and see how far He's brought you and all He's done in your life. Its in that thankfulness that we realize He is able to do more than we can ever imagine! Love, Meli

Redefining "Power Couple"

Most people think of Jay Z and Beyonce or Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, and even the Obamas. But despite the definition for "power couple" you'll see below, I'm here to tell you that's exactly what I feel like daily with my husband! power couple - a couple both of whom have high-powered careers or are politically influential (the freedictionary.com) Ok, so Emerald and I have neither the high powered careers or political influence. But as my husband was up with our daughter the other night, holding her hair as she was puking over the toilet, and cleaning up as I put her back to bed, I couldn't help to feel like a power couple. A different kind of power couple. A couple with a "High-power" in our lives. Most of you have heard me refer to us as Team George, and as a team we are not 50/50. In a team we should be 100/100! In the Dark

So unless you live in a bubble, we are all pretty aware of the state of our world right now. Global Pandemic. I am sure one day we will refer back to this period in time as pre-Coronavirus or post. I actually joked that this time will be referred to as the blip. It was supposed to be spring break celebrating Manny's birthday in Disney with my brother and wife. Instead, everything has shut down from school to my job, and the only person who braves the outside world is Emerald on quick grocery runs or to go to work as he is considered "Essential". Since schools closed and the numbers of positive went up in our county, I quickly realized the gravity of the situation. Perhaps it doesn't sound as bleak when its far from home. Its not like it hadn't been affecting China since December. But having to screen our patients, and hearing stories of those close to us who work in healthcare deal with these patients made it real.
